GAMES MASTERS

We have two escape room venues in the middle of Newport: The Yellow Rooms on Market Street and Red Rooms on the High Street. The Yellow Rooms are home to Banged Up and Redbeard’s Revenge, which are both currently ranked in the top 3 escape room games in Wales and the Red Rooms are the only permanent, officially licensed Blood on the Clocktower venue in the UK. We have new room on the way, more planned, and seasonal pop-ups in the works, so we're growing our team.

We're looking for (at least) two Games Hosts who want more than shifts. We'd love to hear from people who want to build a future with us.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Welcome Players and deliver their game briefings with energy and confidence

  • Run and reset games, and keep an eye on teams while they play

  • Look after Players from the moment they arrive until they leave on a high

  • Help keep both venues running smoothly and safely.


WHERE YOU CAN GO

Once you're settled in, you can choose a development area and build real skills alongside your hosting shifts:

  • Social media: creating content and growing our channels

  • Affiliate marketing: building partnerships that bring new Players through the door

  • Community work: supporting Escapism Unlocked CIC, our community interest company that brings immersive play to people who face barriers to it

  • Business support: helping behind the scenes with admin and operations

Other escape room jobs end at running games. Ours doesn't.

 WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Availability for evenings and weekends. This is essential, as it's when most of our Players play.

  • Confidence speaking in front of groups. You'll brief teams of strangers several times a shift.

  • Great people skills. You make people feel welcome, read the room, and stay calm when things get lively.

  • Living in or near Newport. We sometimes need cover for short shifts or at short notice, so being able to get in easily makes a real difference.

  • A long-term outlook. We're looking for people who want to stay with us all year round, not only during term time.


There’s no escape room experience needed. Full training provided. Theatre, performance, hospitality, customer service, gaming or teaching backgrounds all translate brilliantly.


WHAT YOU GET

  • £13.50 an hour once fully trained

  • £12.71 an hour while you train, which is the full adult National Minimum Wage (whatever your age). Training usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

  • 8 guaranteed hours a week, with extra hours often available

  • A clear route to grow into marketing, community or business support work

  • A small, friendly team running something a bit different
